Dr. Saravanan Sundararaj is a highly experienced vascular and kidney transplant surgeon based in Chennai, specializing in Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular procedures, with over three decades of expertise. Having successfully performed more than 1,000 kidney transplant surgeries including complex redo, second, and third transplants he is widely recognized as a leading authority in advanced vascular and transplant surgery.

He has developed significant expertise in Complex Vascular and Endovascular procedures, including Carotid Endarterectomy/Stenting, Aneurysm Repairs/Stenting, Femoral-Femoral Bypass Grafts, Femoral-Popliteal Bypass Grafts, and Femoral–distal Bypass Grafts to Salvage Diabetic Legs. He also has extensive experience in creating Vascular access for Kidney failure Patients requiring Dialysis, including Grafts. Additionally, he is an expert in treating Varicose Veins using Laser/RFA Techniques and managing Deep Vein Thrombosis.

He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Coimbatore Government Medical College, India, in 1986, and subsequently trained in Vascular and Kidney Transplant Surgeries for more than a decade in Ireland and England. After obtaining the prestigious FRCS (Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons), he returned to India in 2001. His credentials include full registration and licensure to practice with the General Medical Council (UK), the Irish Medical Council, and the Indian Medical Council, enabling him to practice Medicine across Multiple Countries.

Actively involved in Clinical Research, he has served as the primary investigator in several global studies, including the Hokusai Global Study comparing Anticoagulants for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE), and the Adocia Diabetic Foot Ulcer Study. He has also peer reviewed and published numerous articles in this field. His research contributions have been widely published, with notable work on Bone Mineral Disease in Kidney Transplantation and the impact of Monoclonal Antibodies on Transplant outcomes.

In addition to his research, he has contributed significantly to academic literature, authoring chapters in books on vascular surgery and transplant surgery. His leadership roles include being the founding secretary and a past president of the Venous Association of India (VAI). He was also an elected executive committee member of the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation (ISOT), Furthermore, he remains an active member of prestigious societies such as the Vascular Society of India (VSI), European Society of Vascular Surgery (ESVS), and The Transplantation Society (TTS).
